We have lived in a hybrid manner since the dawn of the ubiquitous Internet.
Sometimes we live in the physical, sometimes digital, often simultaneously both.
This artwork looks at that relationship.
This work stems from visiting the UoR art building in December 2023 and
experiencing an art making educational environment for the first
in nearly 30 years.
What struck me was the similarity of physical experience
(various workshops and studios with students and artworks in them) but seeing
people with phones connecting to the Internet via wireless access points.
Something had changed in the intervening years since my last visit:
digital data and it's source and destination, the data centre had
transformed our lives.
The cables are connecting to a data centre

The contents of the three screens in the installation is available below.
Each MP4 video last approx 90 seconds. The original versions are
web pages made with HTML, Javascript, CSS and animated GIFs
which loop indefinitely.
The videos below are screen captures from the running web pages.
The changing options for each question are selected randomly
from arrays of many 100s of individual options.
Depending on your screen size it may be optimal to
maximise the video.
Note there is no audio.
