<< back | Who is poorer? The political left or right
Time frame: August - September 2025
In todays world of post-truth politics, what can you believe? This work took two reports describing the well-being of the the policitical abstractions of the 'right' and 'left' leaning populace in the UK today and compared them both.
The details in the report were artificially generated (inside my head), as was the UoR department which purported to publish the reports: 'The Statistical Research Team'. Though I took the average salary of a worker in the UK in 2025 as a starting point for the figures which are found in the report. This was to make the financial numbers more realistic and believable.
This work was closely related to and came off the back of my MA dissertation (completed summer 2025). Aspects of my dissertation were about how diagrams seem to contain 'objective' truth but this can be easily manipulated.
The 'reports' were shown in the MA Fine Art 'Interim Show', September 2025.

Each MA Fine Art student had their work included in an Instagram post advertising the summer show. Unfortunately I couldn't physically attend the university at that time, I had an operation on my left big toe in August 2025 and was unable to walk. Fortunately fellow students took photos of my work and name for Instagram. Annabel Frearson kindly hung my work in the gallery space.
