MA Final Show Proposal: Pop-up Data Centre

June 2026

Have a temporary data centre for the duration of the final show in the studio area. Aspects of the data centre would intervene with the infrastructure around it. The data centre would be connected to the Internet via a 5g router, the data centre could offer/host resources that can be consumed by people near by. e.g wireless access to the Internet, or a website hosted inside the studios, resources on a physical server in the studio space, etc...

In addition, I could take some of the work I've already created on the course (plus new ones), and have an installation where they combine with the data centre objects (network and servers) - see diagrams below.

I'm thinking of two physical areas, seperated by a (temporary) wall:

I have some DC kit of my own (see at bottom of this page).

Note I have put stick figures into some of the diagrams to give a sense of scale.

   Water tray.
2 x USB C powered fans moving debris around.

   Air Water Cooler.
4 x USB C powered fans cooling water.

Server in box in studio, switched on allowing temp to build up.
Use phone to cool server down and switch light on.
Temp graph will reflect temp difference.

Use multiple phones to cool server down and temp graph will reflect this.

Server

I think I can get a server from a friend of mine. Just need to obtain it.

Post MA Project?

Is the 'Pop-up Data Centre' a project with legs? The subject of data/information/privacy/manipulation isn't going away. Are there other artists who could contribute?
